The North Las Vegas City Council awarded a construction contract to LVI Environmental of Nevada Inc. for the Windsor Park Home Demolition Project. The project consists of asbestos and lead paint abatement, demolition and site clearing of 22 individual, residential lots located in the Windsor Park subdivision.
The city has been moving residents out of Windsor Park since 1996, when the homes there became worthless after sinking ground buckled foundations and sidewalks, cracked plumbing and ruptured gas lines.
The city has been purchasing homes in Windsor Park for $50,000 each from homeowners who want to live elsewhere in the city. Residents who take the grant money must relocate within the city limits.
The project is required to be finished within four months.
