After deciding that three accounting firms were equal in strength and ability, the North Las Vegas City Council opted to go with the least expensive candidate, voting to retain Piercy, Bowler, Taylor & Kern as a new city auditor.
The council heard presentations by Piercy, Bowler, Taylor & Kern; McGladrey & Pullen; and Kafoury, Armstrong & Co.
Piercy, Bowler, Taylor & Kern said the cost would be $39,000 to examine fiscal year July 1, 1999, to June 30, 2000. It was the lowest cost proposed.
The firm will examine the city's financial records and decide if they are accurate and reliable. It has conducted similar audits on Silver State Disposal, McCarran International Airport, and Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority.
