Thursday, March 2, 2000 | 10:56 a.m.
A sister company of Cox Communications Inc., which operates Las Vegas' dominant cable television provider, launched an Internet site for the city.
AccessLasVegas.com, which has been in development since last year, provides a variety of information about Las Vegas on 12 channels accessible through the Internet site.
Site browsers can access local information on autos, entertainment, health, homes, money, news, people and chat, recreation, shopping, sports, technology and travel. The site includes links to several Las Vegas organizations' websites.
The site was developed by Cox Interactive Media, which runs a network of locally focused city websites nationwide. Cox Interactive is owned by Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises Inc., owner of Cox Communications, which operates the Las Vegas cable television system serving 330,000 residential customers and 105,000 hotel rooms.
The Greenspun family, which owns the Las Vegas Sun, has a minority ownership stake in the cable TV system.
