Letter: Ban all games between colleges
Friday, June 30, 2000 | 9:39 a.m.
There are occasions when I make a small wager on college football games. It seems to me that if the NCAA is so concerned about betting on college sports -- that it is so corruptive -- why not have no intercollegiate games and have only intramural contests?
I believe the students who are playing will still have wagers as to the outcome of the game.
The only problem with my solution is that the colleges will lose millions of dollars. I might add that if the betting on college games is banned, the illegal bookmakers will have a field day and, perhaps, even make campaign contributions to the politicians who enacted the ban!
Incidentally, I do not own a casino or have any shares of stock in them.
