Fireworks banned on fed land

In preparation for the Fourth of July, the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management have issued a reminder of the prohibition against use of fireworks on federal public lands.
"Fireworks pose a serious danger under current fire conditions," acting Interagency Fire Management Officer Tony DeFalco said. "The recent Buck Springs wildland fire outside of Pahrump underscores the extremely dry conditions that exist throughout the area."
The prohibition is effective on national forest lands such as (but not limited to) the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (Mount Charleston area) and the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
A person found responsible for setting a wildfire through the use of fireworks on federal lands will be billed for the cost of fighting the fire, the Forest Service and BLM officials said.
