$40,000 OK'd for design work

The Boulder City Council approved $40,000 for design work that would turn the town's former post office into a new council chambers at an anticipated cost of $600,000.

The current council chambers would be turned into office space, possibly for the city's planning department, city manager's office or public information officer, said City Manager John Sullard. The design work is expected to take two months.

Improvement fund question on ballot

Bumps and bulges in Boulder City streets may be smoothed over if voters this November approve using the entire $3.5 million from the city's Capital Improvement Fund for city street reconstruction.

Council members approved a ballot question Tuesday that will appear on November's general election ballot asking if Boulder City residents approve of the use of the money. Money for the Capital Improvement Fund is generated by land sales and use of it requires public approval.

The town currently spends $1 million from its general fund maintaining public roads.

"We feel we could free up other general fund dollars," City Manager John Sullard said. "This would benefit everyone in Boulder City."

Medical chopper to land at airport

Medical helicopter services will gain access to Boulder City with passage of a lease agreement Tuesday for space at Boulder City Airport.

The three-year lease agreement with Mercy Air Services allows the company to develop and occupy a 100-by-150-foot area for private landing pad at a cost of $2,250.
