The man, who wanted to remain anonymous, was playing a Jeopardy! MegaJackpot machine on Sunday at the Tahoe Biltmore when the three symbols lined up.
His total winnings amount to $1.049 million.
"When the three symbols lined up, I wasn't sure what I had won," he said.
"Then one of the casino people came running up and told me I won the big one. I looked up at the progressive figure and couldn't believe it."
The slot machine is manufactured by Reno-based International Game Technology, which pays all MegaJackpots in annual installments.
