Monday, June 26, 2000 | 10:12 a.m.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!

That's what many in the crowd of 12,942 at brand-new Raley Field were chanting Sunday night after the Sacramento RiverCats completed a four-game sweep of the Stars with an 8-5 victory.

Sacramento, which entered the series trailing the Stars by one game in the Pacific Coast League's Southern Division, departs with a three-game lead.

Third baseman Mark Bellhorn's three-run homer that just cleared the fence down the right-field line broke a 4-4 tie in the fourth inning and proved the game-winner.

Greg LaRocca and Ryan Radmanovich homered for the Stars, who were swept for the first time this year in a four-game series.

The Stars open an eight-game homestand at Cashman Field tonight at 7:05 when they host the PCL Central-leading Albuquerque Dukes.

Speculation in San Diego newspapers is that Allen got the call over Mike Darr because the Padres want Darr to continue to play every day. Allen will likely be a backup for the Padres as Eric Owens moves to rightfield to take over for Gwynn. ... Also promoted from the Stars over the weekend were shortstop Kevin Nicholson, who will take over for the injured Chris Gomez and error-prone Damian Jackson (10 errors in one recent 23-game span), and pitcher Will Cunnane, who is scheduled to start Tuesday night against the Dodgers. ...

Woody Williams is scheduled to make a rehab start for the Stars on Tuesday night. ... Double-A pitching star Wascar Serrano had been promoted to make a start on Wednesday for Las Vegas. However, the Stars still only had 20 men on their 23-man roster as of Sunday night. ... Slumping catcher Ben Davis dropped from sixth to eighth in the batting order on Sunday.
