Spanish newspaper celebrates 20 years
The Escobedo family invites the public to attend a block party celebrating 20 years of El Mundo, the largest Spanish newspaper in Nevada.
The celebration will take place tonight at 7 at Escobedo Professional Plaza, 730 N. Eastern Ave. The party is scheduled to run until midnight.
Nevada Power Co. workers to hold event
Members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers who work for Nevada Power Co. are hosting a golf tournament to raise money to fight Lou Gehrig's disease.
The tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Painted Desert Golf Course, 5555 Mirage Road. The fund-raiser will be in honor of Steve Rigazio, a Nevada Power executive who has the disease. Call 367-5680.
Henderson recreation to hold workshop
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a fly-fishing workshop 9:30-3 p.m. Saturday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.
Participation is $95, which includes all supplies. Enrollment is open to those at least 9 years of age. For more information, call 565-2121.
State, Henderson sponsor class Saturday
The Nevada Division of Wildlife and the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will co-sponsor a hunter safety and conservation workshop 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Whitney Ranch Satellite Center, 1661 Galleria Drive.
Workbooks, which must be completed before the workshop, must be picked up in advance. Call 486-5127 for more information.
A Las Vegas career fair,
sponsored by recruiting company CFG, will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Crowne Plaza Las Vegas. For more information, call (402) 697-7427.
The WorldFolk Foundation
will celebrate its fourth anniversary 8 p.m. Saturday at the Enigma Garden Cafe, 918 S. Fourth St. The festivities will include music, poetry and refreshments and are open to the public. For more information, call 220-6043.
