Letter: Bush, Ensign trying to cut seniors’ benefits
Thursday, June 22, 2000 | 9:25 a.m.
Of course, I am going to hear about Democratic Sens. Bob Kerrey and Patrick Moynihan, who support a plan similar to Bush's, over and over again! Hell, these two guys comprise only 4 percent of Democratic senators and both of them are quitting this year (fortunately for seniors).
Taking even 15 percent out of the revenue needed to pay current and future benefits can't help but eventually cause current benefits to be cut. And Bush has not said how he would prevent these cuts, deferring his explanation until "after the election."
Well, Mr. Bush, I demand an explanation and a solemn pledge not to cut current benefits before the election as should all smart seniors, who in the absence of such an explanation, should opt to mark their ballots in the Democrat column all the way down.
Nevada seniors should demand the same details from the phony John Ensign!
