Library event will focus on police
In conjunction with the Metro Police Art Exhibit, Metro Day will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.
The day's events focus on Metro's partnerships with the community.
Events will include demonstrations, exhibits and presentations from a variety of details including Crime Prevention, Recruitment, CRAVE, Patrol and Traffic. A four-part video history of the department will premiere. For more information, call 229-3394.
Mission Hills Park opening scheduled
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating the opening of Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Hills Drive, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The park, at the corner of College Avenue and Mission Drive, includes an interactive water play area and water play sculptures, lighted baseball fields, tennis courts and basketball courts, picnic areas, a tot lot and playground.
It is accessible to the disabled. For more information call 565-4264.
Celebrity event will benefit drug program
The anti-drug program D.A.R.E. is holding its third annual celebrity golf tournament Sunday at the Desert Rose Golf Course. Funds raised by the tournament will benefit the D.A.R.E. program in Clark County.

Mediators seeking community nominations
Mediators of Southern Nevada is seeking nominations for the 2000 Peacemaker of the Year award.
People who bring peace and harmony to their families, their community or affiliation group may be nominated. Winners will be honored at the Peacemaker Dinner Sept. 19. Call 631-2790.
History center sets longer hours
The Nevada Test Site History Center is expanding its hours to noon-4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. It is free of charge.

KidzMania 2000
KidzMania 2000, a family expo and fun fair, will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Cashman Center. The event will include Big Wheel races, a petting zoo, basketball shootout, daddy diaper derby and other activities. Admission is free for children, $6 for adults. Call 233-8388.
