School Board begins conference
Tuesday, June 20, 2000 | 11:03 a.m.
The Clark County School Board Monday began its first day of a three-day conference on policy setting and self-governance.
Some of the issues the School Board will examine include treatment of staff and "consumers," financial planning and budgeting, financial condition and activities, asset protection, compensation and benefits, communication and support to the board, governing style, board job description, the board president's role, board members code of conduct and monitoring the superintendent's performance.
School Board members also plan to produce a clearly defined role for new Superintendent Carlos Garcia, who starts July 5. Garcia replaces retiring Superintendent Brian Cram, who remains on board through the end of July.
