Helen Alexander

Helen Alexander, 80, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 10, 1919, in Morgan City, La. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Melvin Goffney of Houston; one daughter, Betty Grayson of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Ed 'Mr. B' Belanger

Ed "Mr. B" Belanger, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 21, 1930, in Chicago. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired journeyman carpenter, a building inspector for Clark County and a Korean War Army veteran who was the recipient of two Silver Stars.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; one daughter, Debra Almache, and one son, Ed Belanger, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Joe Belanger of Salem, Wis.; four sisters, Jane Rinda of Las Vegas, Edie Bugno and Elaine Messer, both of Ocala, Fla., and Shirley Prohaska of Chicago; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne.

The family suggests donations to the Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer, 3201 S. Maryland Pkwy., Ste. 512, Las Vegas, NV 89109.

Raymond Berman

Raymond Berman, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Chicago. A resident for four years, he was a retired funeral director, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Jewish War Veterans.

He is survived by one daughter, Arlene Gillett of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

James Forrest Brokaw Sr.

James Forrest Brokaw Sr., 57, of Las Vegas died June 7 in Las Vegas. He was born May 28, 1943, in Ohio. A resident for many years, he was a plasterer.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Whitney; and one son, James Forrest Brokaw Jr.

Jimmy Charboneau

Jimmy Charboneau, 47, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 29, 1952, in Portland, Ore. A resident for two years, he was a retired painter in the construction industry, a member of the Elks, Moose and Painters Local 159.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M.; one son, Jeremy Charboneau of Tempe, Ariz.; one daughter, Lisa Nelson, and his parents, Wilma and Albert Charboneau, all of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sisters, Patsy M. Charboneau of Idaho Falls and June Taylor of Las Vegas; two brothers, Albert B. Charboneau of Mesquite and Robert D. Charboneau of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Arnold 'Red' Cooperman

Arnold 'Red' Cooperman, 59, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 27, 1940, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, he was a representative for a beauty supply manufacturer.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Brian Cooperman and David Cooperman, and one daughter, Melissa Thieben, all of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Jim Walker of Visalia, Calif., and Michael Walker of Fowler, Calif.; his mother, Ida Cooperman of Las Vegas; one brother, Michael Cooperman of Denver; one sister, Carla Meddaugh of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Elba Deza-Posada

Elba Deza-Posada, 96, of Las Vegas died June 6 in Las Vegas. She was born July 10, 1903, in Lima, Peru. A resident for eight years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Sally Deza De Deisinger; one son, James Deisinger; and one brother, Hugo Deza-Posada of Lima, Peru.

Maxine Harper

Maxine Harper, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born in Hereford, Texas. A resident for nine years, she was an actress.

She is survived by her husband, Bill.

Gerhard Meier

Gerhard Meier, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1914, in Hamburg, Germany. A resident for five years, he was a retired master machinist and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Renea Farr of Las Vegas; one son, John "Pete" Meier of New York; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Eugene L. Miles

Eugene L. Miles, 83, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born July 4, 1916, in Michigan. A resident for 20 years, he was a retail salesman and a World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; one daughter, Judy Allen of Oregon; two stepsons, Will Schaff of Las Vegas and Eugene Schaff of Eugene, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Woodrow Moore

Woodrow Moore, 81, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A painting contractor and a Navy veteran, he was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, Mamie; one son, Donald Moore of Desloge, Mo.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Robert L. Ondrejack

Robert L. Ondrejack, 61, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1938, in Johnstown, Pa. A resident for 14 years, he was a retail customer service representative and a Coast Guard veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda; one stepdaughter, Maria Perez of Las Vegas; and one sister, Betty Workosky of Johnstown.

Graveside services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Animal Foundation, 700 N. Mojave Road, Las Vegas.

H.J. Frank Pledger

H.J. Frank Pledger, 47, of Las Vegas died June 4 in Las Vegas. A self-employed construction worker, he was born April 10, 1953, in Utah.

He is survived by his wife, Melody Schuster; one son, Damien Pledger of Ogden, Utah; three stepchildren, Brian Schuster, Joshua Schuster and Rachel Schuster; one brother, Bill Pledger of Clinton, Utah; one sister, Mary Carpenter of Texas; and five grandchildren.

Services will be private. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Lesa Dianne Rhodes

Lesa Dianne Rhodes, 38, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. A resident for 10 years, she was born Sept. 28, 1961, in Charleston, S.C.

She is survived by her husband, Roy; one son, Jonathan Robbins, and one daughter, Jessica Lynn Robbins, both of Las Vegas; her father, Bobbie of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and one brother, Bobby Joe Robbins of Galveston, Texas.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Edward W. Vaughn

Edward W. Vaughn, 79, of Burley, Idaho, and Las Vegas, died Friday in a Boise, Idaho, medical center. He was born Dec. 26, 1920, in Indianapolis. A resident for many years, he was a power lineman who traveled and worked in most of the 48 states, was an employee of Reynolds Electrical and Engineering Co. at the Nevada Test Site for 25 years, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a member of Masonic Lodge 32 in Las Vegas, Scottish Rite of Las Vegas and Al Bahr Shrine in San Diego.

He is survived by his wife, Lee of Burley; one daughter, Patricia Leonard of Seattle; one stepdaughter, Rhonda Lee Smith of Castle Rock, Colo.; one stepson, Scott Wheeler of Pahrump; one brother, T.J. Vaughn of Roseburg, Ore.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of life will be 2-6 p.m. Saturday at 6793 Mataro Drive, Las Vegas. Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, is handling arrangements.
