Scelzi leads Top Fuel qualifying

Scelzi topped qualifying for the fourth time this season, driving the Team Winston dragster to a quarter-mile run of 4.651 seconds at a top speed of 313.73 mph.
Jim Epler, Warren Johnson, Tony Mullen and Bob Panella also led their divisions in the $1.9 million competition, the 11th of 23 events in the $45 million NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series.
Epler had a National Trail Raceway-record run of 4.877 seconds at 313.44 mph in his WWF Racing Chevy Camaro to claim the top spot in Funny Car.
Defending event winner Johnson earned the No. 1 position in Pro Stock with a track-record time of 6.935 seconds at 197.54 mph.
Mullen rode his Suzuki to the front of the Pro Stock Motorcycle order, posting a 7.288-second run at 183.79 mph.
Panella had a track-record run of 7.578 seconds at 177.49 mph in a Chevy S-10 to lead Pro Stock Truck qualifying.
