Sunday, June 18, 2000 | 3:40 a.m.
Kane escaped serious injury when his race car hit the wall, broke apart and flipped on its side at the Milwaukee Mile June 5. He shook off lingering soreness Sunday for his first victory of the season.
Kane averaged 87.993 mph and beat runner-up Felipe Giaffone of Brazil by 2.902 seconds. Casey Mears of Bakersfield, Calif., finished third.
Kane's first win came in the 1999 season-ending race at California Speedway last October.
