Thursday, June 15, 2000 | 11:20 a.m.
10:57 p.m., Wednesday -- Metro Police dispatch receives a call of a possible robbery at Macayo's Vegas, 4457 W. Charleston Blvd. At the same time, three men who robbed the restaurant run out the back door onto Arville Street, confronting Officer Pete Rossi who is shot once in the face.
11 p.m. -- The men ditch a rented Chevrolet Blazer near The Big Game Club, 4747 Faircenter Parkway Lane. Two of the men kidnap a woman getting off work at the nearby Olive Garden, 1361 S. Decatur Blvd., and steal her 1991 Chevrolet Blazer. At the the same time, police are flooding into the area near Charleston Boulevard and Arville Street.
11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., this morning -- SWAT team members, K-9 units and patrol officers search neighborhoods in the vicinity of where Rossi was shot. The perimeter is bordered by Charleston Boulevard, Sahara Avenue, Wilshire Street and Valley View Boulevard.
1:40 a.m. -- The stolen 1991 Blazer is recovered in the 1400 block of Monroe Avenue. More than 90 minutes earlier the woman was dropped off by the suspects at Rancho Drive and Bonanza Road.
2 a.m. -- Police spot a green car, possibly a Dodge Intrepid or a Chrysler, with California license plates believed to have at least two of the suspects inside. The car was last seen near Rainbow Boulevard and Alexander Road.
