Raecke resigns manager's post
Eric Raecke, who is supervising the state's $232 million building program this biennium, has resigned as manager of the state Public Works Board effective Aug. 1.
Raecke, 62, said Wednesday he doesn't have any definite plans for the future. He said it's time to take a break.
Raecke has held the $87,500 a year job since May 1995. Before that he was in charge of construction for UNLV for five years and prior to that he was system architect for Montana State University for nine years.
In his current position, he has overseen such projects as the High Desert State Prison, which is scheduled to open in September, and the Lied Library at UNLV, which he says should have a certificate of occupancy in the next 10 days.
Every two years the Legislature allocates $200 million to $300 million for construction of projects, mostly for prisons or for the University and Community College System of Nevada.
