Schools look to Service for teachers

Wednesday, June 14, 2000 | 2:50 a.m.

The Clark County School District is looking for a few good men - and women - by turning to the military to recruit its teachers.

The district is advertising in military publications, pitching the idea of making the move to civilian life by becoming a teacher in the state's largest school district.

The campaign invites military personnel to "Come Teach For Us!"

The campaign kicks off the eMARCH program, which will prepare military personnel who have a bachelor's degree for the teaching field. eMARCH stands for "Military Advancement to Readiness for Careers as Educational Heroes."

The program - in partnership with UNLV - will use online courses to qualify candidates for the transition from the service into Clark County classrooms.
