Las Vegas area fishing report

Wednesday, June 14, 2000 | 9:43 a.m.

LAKE MEAD: Anglers are reporting to the Nevada Division of Wildlife that the striped bass fishing continues to improve throughout the lake while the action for largemouth bass has been fair.

Stripers are being found in a number of locations including the Pyramid Island, the tires at Las Vegas Bay Marina, Las Vegas Wash, Gypsum Wash and Government Wash in the Boulder Basin. Stewart's Point, Fire Bay and Rogers Bay have produced stripers recently for anglers who are fishing in the Overton Arm.

Largemouth bass are being found in coves and along cliff walls. Channel catfish are being caught in deep coves in the evening and early morning hours.

LAKE MOHAVE: Reports from Cottonwood Cove, Katherine Landing and Willow Beach indicate the fishing has been slow.

Lon Grittman, Division of Wildlife creel clerk at Cottonwood Cove, said that he checked only a small number of stripers over the weekend. Those fish came from the narrows leading into Davis Basin.
