UMC course will instruct parents
University Medical Center's Bright Beginnings, a free program offered to parents, is hosting a free infant CPR class 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in the Bright Beginnings classrooms, 1815 W. Charleston Blvd.
This class teaches parents how to be lifesavers by providing infant and child CPR training. To register for this class, call 383-3848.
Jewish center will present variety of music
A Father's Day concert sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
Eight cantors and cantorial soloists from the Las Vegas area will perform a variety of popular Broadway, Yiddish, Hebrew, folk and liturgical melodies.
The event is free for fathers accompanied by their children. General admission tickets are $10 per adult and $7 per child. Mitzvah tickets, which include a contribution to the JCC and priority seating are $36 for adults and $18 for children. Reservations may be made by calling the JCC at 794-0090.
Dance camp set at Whipple center
The Las Vegas Youth Ballet Dance Camp 200 will be held July 10-21 at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Offered by the Cultural and Community Affairs Division of the Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services and the Las Vegas Civic Ballet Association, the two-week camp is open to intermediate and advanced dancers age 10 and up.
Cost of the program is $150; registration is June 19-30. Save $25 and register early now through Saturday.
Ballet technique, pointe, modern, lyrical jazz, tap and Pilates (body alignment) will be taught by professional dancers, including Nevada Ballet Theatre soloist Lissa Danigeliss. For more information, call 229-2320.
Henderson recreation schedules June trip
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host an overnight excursion to the Grand Canyon June 23-24.
Participation is $100 per person (ages 8 and up), which includes round-trip transportation, park fees, and accommodations at the Grand Canyon Lodge (based on double occupancy).
Buses depart at 3:30 a.m. June 23 from the Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., and return at 7 p.m. June 24.
For participants wishing to get an up-close view of the area, mule rides are offered for an additional $40 per person. Mule rides are available to participants over the age of 8 weighing less than 200 pounds.

Children invited to NLV Library
READiscover Nevada 2000, a summer program, will begin with registration and an opening program at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive.
The program will feature a children's storytelling concert with Tom McCormack Kids, and children can create their own custom button for Summer Reading Club. Call 633-1070.
