City council briefs for June 14, 2000

Approval given for negotiations
Solar and wind energy may be a step closer to Eldorado Valley since the Boulder City Council's final approval Tuesday night of a memorandum of understanding with the Nevada Test Site Development Corp.
The 36-month agreement requires the two parties to cooperate in a "good faith effort" to negotiate a lease option within 60 days of approval for "renewable and alternative energy demonstration projects" in the valley.
NTSDC representatives say they already have several interested potential clients that could be ready to locate to the valley south of Boulder City as soon as the lease agreement is hammered out.
Dust control eases concerns
Dust and high traffic concerns won't derail a proposed motorcycle rally expected by promoters to draw 50,000 participants to the dry lake of Eldorado Valley in October.
Appeased by agreements of BGT Productions, Inc., to use dust control measures -- including a dust-collecting gravel and rubber mats -- the council agreed to continue discussions over hosting the charity concert and motorcycle festival Oct. 12-15.
RTC provides help for culvert
A proposed watershed and culvert along Veterans Memorial Drive will become reality thanks to $173,250 from the Clark County Regional Flood Control District.
An interlocal agreement approved by the council Tuesday night will stretch a diversion from the northwest corner of Industrial Road and Yucca Street to a basin to be located north of U.S. 93 near Gingerwood Street.
