Here are some of the events planned this week at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area:
Sun, Sand and Lizards: A 2-mile moderate hike Saturday for people ages 9 to adult to learn about the variety of lizards found at Red Rock. Some rock scrambling required.
White Rock Geology: A moderate 2-mile loop route Sunday for people ages 9 to adult to explore the colorful sandstone and limestone along the White Rock wash. A little rock scrambling required.

LV resident named Melvin Jones Fellow
Albert F. Gaines of Las Vegas has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International Foundation in recognition of his commitment to serving the world community.
Named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, the fellowship is the foundation's highest honor. It is a recognition of a commitment to humanitarian service. Gaines is a member of the Los Prados Las Vegas Lions Club.
Six youths earn Eagle promotions
These young men recently earned the distinction of Eagle Scout from the Boulder Dam Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America:
John Joseph Dickinson, 14, of Las Vegas; James Kyle Dunlap, 18, of Las Vegas; Christopher Michael Fecchino, 14, of Las Vegas; Christopher Gonzales, 16, of Henderson; Duane Gonzales, 15, of Henderson; and Joshua J. Hiram, 16, of Las Vegas.
Immunizations
Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open June 14-20:
DISTRICT HEALTH CENTER: 625 Shadow Lane, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
NORTH LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 3262 Civic Center Drive, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EOB NORTH LAS VEGAS WIC: 5A E. Tonopah Ave., 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday.
PARADISE PARK CLINIC: Recreation Center, 4770 Harrison Drive, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday.
GREEN VALLEY CLINIC: Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3:30 p.m. Friday.
CHEYENNE I-3 CLINIC: Centers for Healthy Families, 3266 Las Vegas Blvd. North, No. 12, 9 a.m.-noon Friday.
FAMILY TO FAMILY CLINIC: 2125-C E. Lake Mead Blvd. (College Park Plaza), 12:30-3:30 p.m. Friday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
ROBINSONS-MAY GALLERIA AT SUNSET MALL: (Men's Dept.) 1304 W. Sunset Road, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
RAINBOW LIBRARY: 3150 N. Buffalo Drive, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. June 20.
CAMBRIDGE COMMUNITY OUTREACH CENTER CLINIC: 3827 S. Maryland Parkway, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. June 20.
