Officials investigate suspicious fire
Friday, June 9, 2000 | 3:24 a.m.
Elko Fire Marshal Verl Jarvie said he located the origin of the fire, describing it as a "hot start."
"I can't rule out other possibilities, but there's a 50 percent chance" it was arson, he told the Elko Daily Free Press.
"There wasn't any other accidental causes but I need to talk to employees to see if there was anything unusual."
Jarvie said several pallets stacked three to four high of the material caught fire, sending Elko firefighters and Lee Engine Co. volunteers to the blaze at 5:25 a.m. on Wednesday.
