Eduardo Perez hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift host Memphis to a 5-4 Pacific Coast League victory over Las Vegas. Perez's 14th home run of the year made a winner out of Redbirds reliever Bryan Eversgerd (3-2). Gene Stechschulte came on to earn his 11th save. Matt Whisenant (0-1) was the loser for the Stars.
In related news, the San Diego Padres placed right-hander Brian Boehringer on the 15-day disabled list. The former UNLV star has tendinitis in his throwing shoulder. The team recalled right-hander Domingo Guzman from the Stars to take Boehringer's place.
