Candlelighters helped by Prime tournament
The third annual Prime Fabrication and Supply Co. golf tournament, with proceeds benefitting Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of Southern Nevada, will have a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start Saturday at the Las Vegas National Golf Club.
The course is located on Desert Inn Road between Maryland Parkway and Eastern Avenue.
The event has raised more than $22,000 for the charity.
Camp scheduled for children 6-12
Limited openings remain for the Arts Connection Kamp running 9 a.m.-noon Monday through July 7 at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
The new program from the Cultural and Community Affairs Division of the Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services offers a full morning of arts related classes for ages 6-12. Full-camp registration is $150 per child, $145 for each additional sibling.
Children may also register for individual classes, with fees ranging from $20 to $75. Visual arts classes include cartoon drawing, clay hand-building, pastels and watercolor.
Drama and dances classes will also be held. Call 229-6211 to request a brochure and registration form.
Silver Advantage plans testing at UMC
University Medical Center's Silver Advantage program is offering a free cholesterol screening 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Spring Valley Quick Care, 4180 S. Rainbow Blvd.
The program is open to Clark County residents 50 years of age and older.
Participants may eat a light breakfast and take their medications. To schedule an appointment, contact the UMC Silver Advantage office at 383-2095.
The Culinary Institute of America
will hold a reception at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Versailles Ballrooom at Paris Las Vegas for potential students. The event is in conjunction with the Las Vegas International Hotel Restaurant Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Accent Summer and Ski Club
of Las Vegas is offering a river tubing trip in Tempe, Ariz., which includes two nights lodging, two days tube rental, airport and night life shuttles. Total price is $78. For more information, call 392-7669.
