Henderson council OKs annexation, land exchange with BMI

Wednesday, June 7, 2000 | 11:32 a.m.

The boundaries of the fastest-growing city in the nation continue to evolve and expand.

The Henderson City Council on Tuesday approved with little discussion the annexation of 5,473 acres of unincorporated Clark County land in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley and a swap with Basic Management Inc. that trades 86 city acres for 92 acres owned by the industrial management group.

The annexation of U.S. Bureau of Land Management and Enterprise Township properties comes more than a year after reaching an interlocal agreement with the county that will guide the development of the property, south of Lake Mead Drive and west of existing city limits.

The land swap with BMI that will allow the city to expand and upgrade its wastewater treatment plant was also approved.

The trade -- a parcel of 86 city-owned acres northeast of Pabco and Sunset roads next to the Henderson Water Reclamation Facility for 92 acres dotted by old wastewater treatment ponds owned by BMI -- will also add acreage to LandWell's proposed master planned community Provenance.
