Henderson recreation to host workshops
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting three floral design workshops this June.
The first workshop will take place 9:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. The others will be 9:30 a.m.-noon June 15 at the Whitney Ranch Satellite Center, 1661 Galleria Drive, and 4-6:30 p.m June 21 at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway.
Enrollment in any of the workshops is $20. A supply list will be furnished at registration.

EOB, HUD plan fair for buyers
A home buyer fair will be hosted by the Housing Division of the Economic Opportunity Board and the Department of Housing and Urban Development 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St.
Participating in the fair will be the city of North Las Vegas, Nevada Hand, LISC, Wells Fargo Mortgage, ATI Title, Citibank and other community mortgage lenders.
The fair will afford prospective homeowners the opportunity to meet with lenders and home improvement vendors regarding first time home buying.

Learn how to protect yourself and family
The Community Safety and Health Fair will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in the MGM Grand Conference Center.
The state's Safety Consultation and Training Section, in partnership with the MGM Grand, is sponsoring this community-wide event to promote a safer Nevada.
The fair is designed to provide a better prospective on how to take simple, preventative steps to modify habits and to become more aware of potential hazards.

Children invited to LV recreation events
The Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services is now organizing two sports camps for children. The eight-week program will run 8:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. weekdays at Gibson Leisure Services Center, 3900 W. Washington Ave., and include sports clinics in the morning followed by afternoon camp sessions.
A different sport will be featured each week such as basketball, golf, softball, soccer, broom hockey and swimming. Camp sessions will include arts and crafts, field trips and special events.
The Teeny Weenysports camp, designed for ages 4-5, is $20 weekly per child while the Camp Xtreme is for ages 6-12 and will cost $15 per child for the first child in the family and $12 for each additional child.
Early drop-offs and late pick-ups are available for an additional $10 per week for the first child and $15 per week for each additional child.
Registration is now taking place at the city's Municipal Sports office at 821 1/2 Las Vegas Blvd. North, behind the Reed Whipple Cultural Center. For more information, call 229-2256.
Students at C.P. Squires Elementary School
will open their doors to the public to host their 2000 Multicultural Fair 5:30 p.m. Thursday at 1312 E. Tonopah Ave. The public is welcome to attend this event, sponsored by Texas Station.
