Hispanic Television Network of Fort Worth, Texas, will acquire Corpus Christi, Texas-based Cosmo Communications LLC's television station in Las Vegas as it expands into key Hispanic markets.
The Hispanic network said Monday it will acquire KKJK TV19 in Las Vegas and eight additional television stations including a flagship Dallas station, KLDT Channel 55, and add three new affiliates to its network.
"We're targeting Las Vegas because it's No. 25 on our list of the top 25-30 Hispanic markets," said Kyle King, Hispanic Television Network's director of sales. "The station is a low-powered one without cable carriage and has about three workers." The additional stations to be acquired are in San Francisco, Sacramento, Orlando, Monterey/Salinas, Calif., El Paso, Brownsville, Texas, and Laredo, Texas. The three affiliates added are in Duluth, Minn.; Reno and Watertown, N.Y.
HTVN says it has more than 40 affiliates and 27 stations broadcasting to more than 20 million U.S. homes through cable and broadcast feeds.
