Doctor fined for false ads trying to get Texas license

RENO -- A former Las Vegas resident doctor who was disciplined for a misleading Internet advertisement for male devices still hasn't paid his fines.
The state Board of Medical Examiners has been told that Dr. Chad Niles is now in Texas. The doctor, the board says, owes the state a $2,000 fine, $8,590 in investigative costs and 40 hours of public service.
The board agreed at its meeting Saturday to write a letter to medical officials in Texas, where Niles is trying to get a license to practice.
The Nevada board found him guilty in February of advertising penis enlargement devices on the web by using the name of another physician. He was also found guilty of making false statements to the medical staff of the university residency program about his activities.
Also Saturday the board refused to reinstate the license of Dr. Robert Chancellor of Las Vegas, who was disciplined in March 1999 for treating a patient while under the influence of alcohol and endangering the health and safety of the patient.
The board also voted to revoke the licenses of Drs. Jayendra Shad and Brian Spencer because of disciplinary problems in California. The licenses of the two physicians had previously been suspended.
Additionally, the board revoked the license of Dr. Nir Lorant. Chief Deputy Attorney General Brian Kunzi said Lorant was under investigation in California for sexual relations with a patient. He applied to Nevada for a license but did not reveal he was under investigation in California. He was convicted in Nevada of submitting a false application.
