One day after advancing to the semifinals of the 200 meters, UNLV sophomore sprinter Michele Davis captured perhaps her crowning achievement as a collegian, advancing to the finals of the 400 meters and earning All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Durham, N.C.
Davis, who was the final qualifier by time, was clocked at 53 seconds in the event. She ran in the fastest of the three heats and finished fourth.
Also advancing for the Rebels was senior sprinter Ayanna Hutchinson. Hutchinson benefited from running in the fast heat of the 100 meters. She finished fourth in her wave, but clocked 11.42 to earn a berth in today's seminfinals.
