Southwest Gas Corp. of Las Vegas today asked the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada for a $22.9 million rate hike to reimburse the company for higher wholesale natural gas prices.
Southwest said it will not profit from the increase, which it wants to implement July 1. If granted, winter rates would increase an average 10.6 percent or $4.24 per month for residential customers in the Las Vegas area.
