Last race: Matt Kenseth got his first Winston Cup victory at the Coca-Cola 600 in Concord, N.C. Kenseth, who started 21st, came from farther back in the field than any previous winner. Polesitter Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished fourth.

Fast facts: Kyle Petty's last Winston Cup victory was in Dover in 1985. ... Bobby Allison won the only caution-free race in Dover, in 1971. ... Kenseth is the 11th different winner in 12 events this season. ... Dale Earnhardt is the only driver to have nine top-10 finishes this season. ... Track: Route 66 Raceway.

Last year: Mike Dunn won the Top Fuel division. Tim Wilkerson, Warren Johnson, Matt Hines and Bob Panella also were winners in their pro categories.

Last event: Gary Scelzi (Top Fuel), John Force (Funny Car) Vieri Gaines (Pro Stock) and Matt Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) won their divisions at the Castrol Nationals in Ennis, Texas.

Fast facts: This is the third year of the event. ... Wilkerson beat Force in the finals last year. It was Force's only finals loss of the season. ... Force will try for his 86th career victory, which would be an NHRA record. ... Track records were set in all categories except Pro Stock Motorcycle last season. ... Mike Thomas' 1998 victory is the only one of his career.

Last year: Michael Schumacher won, becoming Ferrari's career leader in victories. It was Schumacher's 16th win in a Ferrari. He had tied Niki Lauda earlier by winning the San Marino Grand Prix.

Last race: Schumacher, the Formula One points leader, won the German Grand Prix at the track that's just an hour by car from his boyhood home near Cologne.

Fast Facts: Schumacher has four victories in six races this season. ... He has won four times in Monte Carlo. ... Ferrari leads the team standings with 62 points. McLaren is second with 52.

INDY RACING LEAGUE

Last race: CART champion Juan Montoya crossed over and won the IRL's Indianapolis 500, overwhelming the field. Montoya led 167 of the 200 laps and took the checkered flag with his closest competitor still in the fourth turn. He is Indy's first rookie champion since Graham Hill in 1966.
