Hot August Nite fund-raiser planned

The YMCA of Southern Nevada will hold its third annual Hot August Nite fund-raiser at 7 p.m. Friday at the Summerlin Trails Community Center. It includes a 15-mile bike ride, 5K run and a 2-mile fun walk.

Entry fees are $20 per individual and $60 for a family if registering by Tuesday. Afterward, the price is $30 per individual and $100 per family. All proceeds benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

FCC-approved exam offered

An FCC-approved amateur radio exam will be offered noon Saturday at the Community College of Southern Nevada, 700 College Drive, Henderson. For information and pre-registration, call Tim Hunt at 872-5268.

Rodeo Park grand opening set

The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the grand opening of Rodeo Park 8-10 a.m. Saturday at 810 Aspen Peak. The celebration will include a dedication ceremony and activities including stagecoach rides, rodeo games and competitions, an inflatable obstacle course and prizes. Participants will also be served a chuck wagon breakfast. For additional information, call 565-4264.

Food drive to run throughout August

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada will be the recipient of a food drive sponsored by Duke Engineering and Services Inc. from Tuesday through Aug. 31.
