Three people died Sunday in two unrelated motorcycle accidents on area highways.
The first accident occurred about 7:45 a.m. on Interstate 15 near the U.S. 93 turnoff, killing a motorcycle driver and his passenger.
Frank D. Lajeunesse, 54, of California, was northbound on the interstate when he apparently drifted off the roadway onto the median. Lajeunesse lost control of the motorcycle, throwing him and his passenger, Sandra K. Motsinger, 39, off the vehicle, said Trooper Alan Davidson, a Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman.
Lajeunesse and Motsinger died at the scene, Davidson said.
In the second motorcycle accident Sunday, a 48-year-old San Jose, Calif., woman died when she lost control of her motorcycle and was hit by a pickup.
Linda A. Parise was southbound on U.S. 95 near Rancho Drive about 2:40 p.m. when she lost control of her motorcycle, Davidson said.
Parise slid across several lanes while holding onto her motorcycle, then into the path of a pickup driven by a 17-year-old Tonopah male. The teen tried to brake, but struck Parise, Davidson said.
She died at the scene. No one else was injured.
