Mattie Carol Artiaga

Mattie Carol Artiaga, 64, of Las Vegas died July 16 in Newark, N.J. She was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Newark. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired employee from Caesars Palace.

She is survived by one son, Kelvin Artiaga of Las Vegas; four daughters, Gwenda Artiaga of Tamarac, Fla., Kathy Collins of Dayton, Ohio, and Sharon Coburn and Diane Artiaga, both of Inglewood, Calif.; and her father, Booker T. Stevens of Plainfield, N.J.

No local services are scheduled. Browns Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling arrangements.

The Rev. Clarence Banks

The Rev. Clarence Banks, 84, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A minister and World War II Army veteran, he was born June 13, 1916, in Henderson, Ky.

He is survived by his wife, Leola; one daughter, Yvonne Evans, and one brother, Carl Banks, both of Las Vegas; and one grandson.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Saturday at the Antilepsis Full Gospel Church, 5920 W. Flamingo Road. Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North, North Las Vegas, is handling arrangements.

William James Brannon

William James Brannon, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Tennessee. A resident for one year, he was a forklift operator.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Melton Brannon; two sons, Ronnie Brannon of Aurora, Ill., and Jim Brannon of Fresno, Calif.; one daughter, Judy Torrez, and one sister, Margie Higgs, both of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in Tennessee. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Robert Barrett Douglas

Robert Barrett Douglas, 82, of Las Vegas died July 9 in Las Vegas. He was born May 7, 1918, in Arizona. A resident for two years, he was a truck driver, a Navy veteran and a member of the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three sons, Robert Barrett Douglas Jr., Bruce Colin Douglas and Michael O'Dell Douglas; one daughter, Kathleen Nanett Douglas; two brothers, Russell Douglas and Kenneth Douglas; one sister, Hazel Jameson; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Edith Langton Wiseman Edwards

Edith Langton Wiseman Edwards, 92, of West Valley, Utah, died Wednesday in a local hospice. She was born Nov. 17, 1907, in Salt Lake City. A resident for one year, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Wilford Wiseman of Barstow, Calif.; three daughters, LaVonne Watkins of Salt Lake City, Colleen Payzant of St. George, Utah, and Sharon Boggs of Las Vegas; 20 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in Utah. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Henry John Fenstra

Henry John Fenstra, 74, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 8, 1925, in Benson, Minn. A resident for three years, he was a bus driver, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Christ the King Seniors Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; one daughter, Diane Fenstra, and three sons, Thomas Fenstra, Dennis Fenstra and Kenneth Fenstra, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Harold Fenstra of Minnesota, Howard Fenstra of Washington state and Walter Fenstra of Wisconsin; three sisters, Betty Skarsten, Margaret Tollefson and Elizabeth Rippherger, all of Minnesota; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. services Saturday in Christ the King Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Martin L. Glenn

Martin L. Glenn, 79, of Boulder City died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Cincinnati. A resident for four years, he was a retired owner-operator of a bakery, a World War II Navy veteran who was on the original crew of the USS Steelhead and a member of Elks Lodge 1682 of Boulder City.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine C.; and one sister, Nina Swarb of Dayton, Ohio.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Geneva Holmes

Geneva Holmes, 64, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born July 14, 1936, in St. Joseph, La. A resident for 31 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by six sons, Henry Loyd Jr. of Tallulah, La., Donald Ray Loyd, Lee Oscar Loyd and Matthew Holmes Jr., all of Las Vegas and Jerry Bates and Michael Holmes, both of North Las Vegas; three daughters, Inez Watson, Debra Holmes and Jennifer Holmes, all of Las Vegas; four brothers, Eddie Brooks, Alonzo Bates, Moses Bates and Aron Bates, all of Los Angeles; one sister, Rachel Bates of Las Vegas; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-8 p.m. today in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 316 Madison Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Sybil Pauline Huggins

Sybil Pauline Huggins, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Manchester, Texas. A Boulder City resident for 20 years and most recently a Las Vegas resident for two years, she was a goat ranch owner-operator, a retired waitress and truck driver.

She is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Pederson of Las Vegas; three sons, Richard Bell and Kurtis Bell, both of San Jose, Calif., and Randy Bell of Salado, Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were 9:30 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

Pricsilla Kunzer

Pricsilla Kunzer, 78, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born July 8, 1922, in Budapest, Hungary. A resident for 21 years, she was self-employed in the custom drapery business.

She is survived by two daughters, Marie Voelker of Las Vegas and Eva Molnar of Buffalo, N.Y.; one son-in-law, Harold Bruce of Las Vegas; and one brother, Michael Farago of Hungary.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private.

Paul C. Lalli

Paul C. Lalli, 35, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 22, 1964, in Grand Junction, Colo. A resident for 12 years, he was a restaurant bartender.

He is survived by his fiancee, Melissa L. Parker, his mother, Roseann D. Justice, and twin sisters, Rainy Autumn Justice and Misty Summer Justice, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Maria Cecilia Morcillo

Maria Cecilia Morcillo, 94, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born July 12, 1906, in Roldanillo (Valle), Colombia. A resident for two years, she was a retired seamstress.

She is survived by four daughters, Teresita M. Chida, Lucina Morcillo and Cecilia Florencia Morcillo, all of Las Vegas and Sister Margarita Andre De Marie of Argentina; two sons, Ramiro De Jesus Morcillo of Las Vegas and Jose Humberdo Morcillo of New York City; four sisters, Maria Ines Sarasti and Andrade Celmira, both of Venezuela, Leonor Morcillo of Colombia and Lia Gonzalez of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today with services following at 6 p.m. in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Additional visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-noon Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Church services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway.

Dominador Perez Sia Jr.

Dominador Perez Sia Jr., 59, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 3, 1941, in Tayabas, Quezon, Philippines. A resident for 11 years, he was a hotel-casino buffet carver.

He is survived by two daughters, Maria Buen of Henderson and Blessy Ramirez of Las Vegas; one son, Don Sia of Henderson; his mother, Mercedes Perez Sia of the Philippines; five brothers; five sisters; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Sunday and Monday with a 6:30 p.m. vigil service Monday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson.

Francisca Rios

Francisca Rios, 74, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Riverside, Calif. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by six daughters, Josefina Zavala of San Jose, Calif., Ofelia Rios of Palmdale, Calif., Rosa Gutierrez, Francisca Ramirez and Estela Ramirez, all of Mexico City and Maria Coria of Las Vegas; four sons, Mariano Elias and Marco Elias, both of Michoacan, Mexico, Rafael Gutierrez of Mexico City and Jose Gutierrez of Las Vegas; one sister, Encarnacion Rios of Texas; one brother, Eulalio Rios of San Jose; 40 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 8:30-9 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Bruce Allen Sparling

Bruce Allen Sparling, 37, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 17, 1962, in Elwood City, Pa. A resident for 30 years, he was a security officer and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Marguerite Sparling of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Amy R. Oblad of New York and Verna L. Quinn of Las Vegas.

Webbie Edwin Starr

Webbie Edwin Starr, 75, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Aid Bell, Okla. A resident for 39 years, he was an electrical contractor, a member of Montezuma Masonic Lodge 1 AF&AM of Santa Fe, N.M., Scottish Rite Bodies and Zelzah Shrine Temple, both of Las Vegas and Woodman of the World.

He is survived by his wife, Jimmie; one daughter, Kathryn Smith, and two sons, Rex Starr and Steven Starr, all of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today and one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Robert Shanks Taylor

Robert Shanks Taylor, 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Washington state. A resident for 10 years, he was a doctor, an Army veteran, a member of the American Association of Anesthesiologists and Sigma Chi Fraternity.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; one son, Donald S. Taylor of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, Dr. Donald M. Taylor of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

John C. Wenski

John C. Wenski, 55, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local health care center. He was born Sept. 4, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired grocery store assistant manager and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Wenski of Las Vegas; and three brothers, Jim Wenski of Las Vegas, Bob Wenski of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Don Wenski of Kansas City, Mo.
