Arthur H. Blake

Arthur H. Blake, 68, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 1, 1932, in Salem, Mass. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired firefighter, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League, past president of the Mechanics Association in Boston, a member of Moose Lodge 1763 and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; four daughters, Robin LeBlanc of Peabody, Mass., Barbara Burgoiyne of Manchester, N.H., and Sally Blake and Marianne Santos, both of Salem; two sons, Richard Blake and Robert Blake, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Marianne Santos of Maine; two brothers, Warren Blake of New Hampshire and Richard Blake of Peabody; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Gary Wayne Campbell

Gary Wayne Campbell, 38, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 17, 1961, in Japan. A resident for 26 years, he was an electrician and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Marie; two sons, Paul Campbell and Michael Campbell, his parents, Wanda Mae and Jesse Campbell, and two sisters, Neda Imber and Donna Maynard, all of Las Vegas; four brothers, Michael Campbell of Pahrump, Mark Campbell of San Diego and John Campbell and Tommy Campbell, both of Las Vegas.

Valley Memorial Crematory, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 16, Henderson, is handling private arrangements.

LaVella Clothier

LaVella Clothier, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Hurricane, Utah. A resident for 45 years, she was founder and former owner of Las Vegas Diesel.

She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Phillips of Garden Grove, Calif., and DeLoa Hurtado of Las Vegas; two sons, Eldon Clothier of Boulder City and Dale Clothier of Las Vegas; three brothers, Earl Worthen of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Clair Worthen of Sacramento and Ken Worthen of Branson, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the LDS 6th Ward Chapel, 3400 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Lucille K. Dare

Lucille K. Dare, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 6, 1912, in Minnesota. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired county government social worker and a member of American Association of Retired Persons.

She is survived by two daughters, Lucille Litsheim and Darlene "Dee" Bruton, one son, Robert Dare, and one sister, Ruth McFarland, all of Las Vegas; 20 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be in Riverside, Calif.

Robert D. Garside

Robert D. Garside, 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born March 31, 1930, in Atlantic, Iowa. A resident for 28 years, he was retired, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Red Rock Moose Lodge and the Avicultural Society of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Neta; one daughter, Ruth Apple of Las Vegas; one son, Mark Garside of Moreno Valley, Calif.; one brother, Jan Lytton of West Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Sarah Davis of Maryland; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Walter C. Heins

Walter C. Heins, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 18, 1924, in St. Louis. A resident for 15 years, he was a printing company owner-operator, a World War II Navy veteran, a lifetime member of the American Legion, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Odd Fellows Association.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva; one son, Michael Heins, and three daughters, Darlene, Cathy and Sherry, all of St. Louis; one stepdaughter, Leigh Abresch of San Francisco; one brother, Ervin Heins, and one sister, Sandra Heins, both of St. Louis; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10:30 a.m. services Monday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

The family suggests donations to the Veterans Administration, 1700 Vegas Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89106.

Geneva Holmes

Geneva Holmes, 64, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born July 14, 1936, in St. Joseph, La. A resident for 31 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by six sons, Henry Loyd Jr. of Tallulah, La., Donald Ray Loyd, Lee Oscar Loyd and Matthew Holmes Jr., all of Las Vegas and Jerry Bates and Michael Holmes, both of North Las Vegas; two daughters, Debra Holmes and Jennifer Holmes, both of Las Vegas; four brothers, Eddie Brooks, Alonzo Bates, Moses Bates and Aron Bates, both of Los Angeles and Rachel Bates of Las Vegas; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 316 Madison Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Dorris Mae Irons

Dorris Mae Irons, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in California. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired apartment house manager.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Russell; one son, Thomas Glenn Gaston of Marble, Colo.; two daughters, Marilyn K. Lennon of Santa Monica, Calif., and Christine S. Purkes of San Diego; one sister, Joan Fearon of San Diego; two grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

William Jeanguenat Jr

William Jeanguenat Jr., 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Illinois. A resident for eight years, he was a paint salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; two sons, Dennis and David; two daughters, Gloria and Donna; one brother, Jerome; and one grandchild, Christin.

Services will be 6 p.m. Saturday in Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North is handling arrangements.

Maurice Koukel

Maurice Koukel, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Los Angeles. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired musician and a lifetime member of the Musicians Union.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie; two daughters, Judith Creasey and Donna Koukel, and one son, Lawrence Koukel, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Florette Handman of Los Angeles; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Thespia "Tess" Mermigis

Thespia "Tess" Mermigis, 87, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Kansas City, Kan. A resident for eight years, she was a retired cosmetic sales representative and a member of the St. Johns Greek Orthodox Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Irene Gladieux, and one son, Steven Mermigis, both of Henderson; one brother, Michael Sarras of Kansas City, Kan.; and one grandchild.

Anne Mitchell

Anne Mitchell, 64, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born July 10, 1936, in Dublin, Ireland. A resident for 32 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Marie McGlynn of Ireland; two sons, Mike Mitchell and Gary Mitchell, both of Las Vegas; five sisters, Mary Hassitt, Cecilia Byrne and Nellis Hannon, all of Ireland, Noeline Khan of Las Vegas and Margaret Boultwood of California; four brothers, Josiah Brennan and David Brennan, both of Ireland, James Brennan of England and Andrew Brennan of California; and five grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Carolyn L. Morrison

Carolyn L. Morrison, 59, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 11, 1940, in Hays, Kan. A resident for 38 years, she was a retired manager from Southwest Gas and a member of Toastmasters.

She is survived by one daughter, Diana Sullivan; one son, David Morrison of Las Vegas; five brothers, Leroy Copp and Dennis Copp, both of Wichita, Kan., Ronald Copp of Colleyville, Texas, James Copp of Beloit, Kan., and Michael Copp of McPherson, Kan.; three sisters, Judith Dinges of Silver Spring, Md., Diane Copp of Alamo and Mary Walker of Nickerson, Kan.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. rosary today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way.

Otis Lee Powell Sr.

Otis Lee Powell Sr., 58, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 11, 1941, in Hermitage, Ark. A resident for many years, he was a casino porter.

He is survived by three sons, Kenneth Powell, Otis L. Powell Jr. and Otis Powell II, and one daughter, Tay Powell, all of Las Vegas; and six other children; one sister, Mable Miles, and two brothers, Jerry Powell and Eddie Powell, all of Las Vegas; and many grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North, North Las Vegas.

Elson Russell Jr.

Elson Russell Jr., 81, of Henderson died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 13, 1919, in California. A resident for 13 years, he was a contractor for the federal government and a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Gary Russell of Henderson and Jerry Russell of California; one brother, Leon Russell of California; three sisters, Doris Trusty and Lina Russell, both of California and Bonnie Denton of South Carolina; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

John C Simpson

John C Simpson, 66, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Queens, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired law enforcement police officer and a United States Navy Reserve veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; one son, Raymond Simpson of New York state; four sisters, Terry, Pat, Gertrude and Ruthie, and two grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Joe R. Ward

Joe R. Ward, 71, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1928, in Oklahoma. A resident for seven years, he was a retired supervisor of natural gas wells, a Navy veteran and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle D.; two daughters, Karen Munsch of Hays, Kan., and Terry Stegman of Hutchinson, Kan.; one son, Joe R. Ward Jr. of Emporia, Kan.; one stepson, Shane Jackson of Guam; one stepdaughter, JoAnn Shelton of Henderson; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
