Target shooting was source of northern fire

Farr said a man, his girlfriend and his two sons were target shooting in the Red Rock area on Sunday. One shot ricocheted off the target and sent sparks in opposite directions.
The group was able to stamp out one of the small fires, but they didn't notice the second one until it had grown beyond their control, he said.
The man used a call phone to call firefighters.
"They are very cooperative and took responsibility for the fire," Farr said. "We are still investigating whether they will be held responsible for the suppression costs."
Firefighters contained the blaze Monday night.
