Rubin Alatorre Jr.

Rubin Alatorre Jr., 32, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born May 12, 1968, in Los Angeles. A resident for eight years, he was a member of Union Local 159.

He is survived by his wife, Gina; two daughters, Brandi Alatorre and Tawny Alatorre, both of California; his parents, Maria and Rubin Alatorre Sr., and two brothers, Victor Alatorre and Adrian Alatorre, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Gloria Lopez of Henderson; and his grandmother, Maria Losoya of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Thursday with a 6 p.m. rosary in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Charlie Allen

Charlie Allen, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 27, 1917, in New Gulf, Texas. A resident for six years, he was a retired truck driver and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Ronald Allen and Charles Edward Allen, both of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Cleveland 'Bud' Bowser

Cleveland 'Bud' Bowser, 60, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Stoney Creek, Pa. A resident for 23 years, he was a retired automobile mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; one daughter, Kathleen Peterson of Las Vegas; two brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren.

Services were 12:30 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services followed in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Richard G. Burnham Sr.

Richard G. Burnham Sr., 84, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1916, in Youngstown, Ohio. A resident for one year, he was a machinist at General Motors.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Burnham of Las Vegas and Richard Burnham of Victorville, Calif.; one daughter, Shirley Arvin of Lakewood, Colo.; one sister, Flo Kish of Youngstown; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be private. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Jeanne Ruth Cannon

Jeanne Ruth Cannon, 81, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born July 1, 1919, in New Jersey. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Anita Louise Grizzle; one brother, Gilbert; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Lee Cline

Kenneth Lee Cline, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born June 19, 1925, in Kansas. A resident for 40 years, he owned George Alignment and Brakes and was a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; four sons, Kenneth Craig Cline of St. George, Utah, Kevin Paul Cline of Missoula, Mont., and Jon William Cline and Jeffery Lee Cline, both of Las Vegas; one brother, James Cline of Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Marge Springer of Pueblo, Colo., and Mary Lou Warren of Liberty, Neb.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Robert Michael Chill, 71, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1928, in Illinois. A resident for 11 years, he was a journalist who worked for JFK's presidential candidacy.

He is survived by two sons, Gene Chill and Michael Chill; one daughter, Coral Chill; one brother, Donald Chill; and three grandchildren.

James A. Corbett Jr.

James A. Corbett Jr., 53, of North Las Vegas died Friday in North Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 22, 1946, in Gardena, Calif. A resident for 38 years, he was a maintenance engineer for Bally's hotel-casino, a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 501.

He is survived by his wife, Immaculada; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Corbett Gerhardt and John Gerhardt, both of Las Vegas; one son, Sgt. Michael T. Corbett of North Carolina; his parents, James and Betty Corbett of Arkansas; three brothers, Wayne Corbett of Florida, Eugene Corbett of Texas and David Corbett of Arkansas; one sister, Thelma Lee Heffel of Arkansas; and one granddaughter, Amber Marie Corbett of Texas.

Ronald E. Cotshall Sr.

Ronald E. Cotshall Sr., 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1935, in Ohio. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired Vietnam War Navy veteran who served 30 years, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Fleet Reserve Association.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn, of Topack, Ariz.; two sons, David of Florida and Ronald Jr. of California; two daughters, Rhoda and Sally, both of California; two brothers, Richard and James, both of Ohio; one sister, Joyce, of Illinois; and two grandchildren.

Clarice E. Davis, 85, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born July 4, 1915, in Slayton, Minn. A resident for 18 years, he was a retired office manager in the aircraft tool industry.

He is survived by four sons, Bruce Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Marilyn MacMurtrie of Frazier Park, Calif., and Aldyth Davis of North Hills, Calif.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Uriel Floyd Draper

Uriel Floyd Draper, 61, of Pahrump died Tuesday in Pahrump. He was born Nov. 27, 1938. A resident for 13 years, he was a heavy equipment mechanic.

He is survived by his mother, Lorene Cannon of California.

Services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 2240 E. Calvada Blvd. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Chief Tecopa Cemetery, Pahrump.

Marian Elliott

Marian Elliott, 79, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. She was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Charleston, Mo. A resident for 46 years, she was a retired bookkeeper for a coin business, a member of Zelneva Chapter 96, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Daughters of the Nile Southgate Chapter 18 Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, John Rowe of Henderson; one stepson, Arthur Elliott of Alabama; one brother, Charles Shelby of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Charlotte A. Foreman, 71, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born March 10, 1929, in Detroit. A resident for 23 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Solomon; six daughters, Mary Gates of Brush, Colo., Christine Leonard, Theresa Gerow and Gerrann Johnson, all of Las Vegas, Delores Mandyck of Oklahoma City and Anne Howl of Cedar City, Utah; 10 sons, David Foreman, Gerard Foreman, Daniel Foreman, Frank Foreman, Jay Foreman, Mick Foreman and Rick Foreman, all of Las Vegas, Doug Foreman of Waterford, Mich., Joey Foreman of Cedar City and Marty Foreman of Helena, Mont.; two sisters, Marie Koch of West Blumfield, Mich., and Annette Bunick of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Robert Haehl Jr.

Robert Haehl Jr., 81, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in North Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 23, 1938, in Ohio. A resident for seven years, he was a firefighter and a veteran.

He is survived by four daughters, Katherine Haehl, Pamela Haehl and Jennifer MacDonald, all of California and Barbara Foster of Arizona; his parents, Fannie M. and Robert J. Haehl Sr. of California; three sisters, Joyce Clark of Las Vegas and Nancy Badejo and Susan Warner, both of California; and seven grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in San Diego. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Eugene Mathew 'Euge' Heimer

Eugene Mathew 'Euge' Heimer, 83, of Austin, Minn., died Thursday in Bloomington, Minn. He was born March 5, 1917, in Adams, Minn. A former Las Vegas resident for more than 20 years, he was a retired employee of Hormel Corp. in Austin and president of the Las Vegas PTA, Kiwanis Club and Golden Kiwanis Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine, in June 1997.

He is survived by eight children, Lois Jeck, Patty Getzin, Joanne Anderson, Brooks Heimer, Kathy Thurgood, Jim Heimer, Barb Dodd and Larry Heimer; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Kollins

Dorothy Kollins, 87, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born Sept. 6, 1912, in New York. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Stephen Kollins, and one daughter, Hillary Stoltz, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Worth Dwight Metcalf, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born April 13, 1924, in Greenville, S.C. A resident for six months, he was a retired finish carpenter and World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Sheaks of Las Vegas and Christine Rowan of Reno; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be in Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley.

Richard John Michalek, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Wisconsin. A resident for eight years, he was a baker.

Evada Norman, 34, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 8, 1965, in Little Rock, Ark. A resident for 13 years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by one daughter, Tyra DuBose, and one son, Joshua Walker, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Judy Norman of Inglewood, Calif.; her father, Bobby Norman of Little Rock; and two brothers, Edwin L. Norman of Los Angeles and Bobby L. Norman Jr. of Las Vegas.

Betty Pettit

Betty Pettit, 87, of Henderson died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 13, 1932, in Pennsylvania. A resident for many years, she worked in a photo lab.

She is survived by two daughters, Dianna E. Russo and Kimberly Esposito, both of Henderson; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Bertie I. Sawyers, 75, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born May 8, 1925, in Benndale, Miss. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda J. Heidelberg of Las Vegas; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by six nieces, Marilyn Legendre of New Orleans, Evelyn Seals and Brenda Varnado, both of Picayune, Miss., Sheila McMahon and Sandra Brady, both of Las Vegas and June Brown of Gulfport, Miss.; and one nephew, Wayne Varnado of Picayune.

Nyles DeLoy Smith

Nyles DeLoy Smith, 57, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a Los Angeles medical center. He was born Feb. 27, 1943, in Santaquin, Utah. He was an engineer at Sprint telephone company for 33 years and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Sharp of Eureka, Utah; one brother, Cleil Smith; one sister, Yavonna Horrocks; and two granddaughters.

William W. Steele Jr.

William W. Steele Jr., 78, of Boulder City died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 26, 1922, in Johnson City, Ill. A resident for 15 years, he was a machine shop operator, a World War II Army veteran and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; one son, Melvin Steele of Evansville, Ind.; four daughters, Connie Minton and Patty Avery, both of Evansville and Pamela Hall and Deborah Ressler, both of Hanover, Md.; and two sisters, Stella Beal and Ruth Bristow, both of Evansville.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Richard Darren Tharp

Richard Darren Tharp, 35, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born May 26, 1965, in Nevada. A lifelong resident, he was a security officer.

He is survived by his companion, Shellee McGrath; his father, Robert Douglas Tharp; his mother, Donna Grayson Staggs; one daughter, Darrylee Lynn Tharp; and one brother, Lance Douglas Tharp.
