The Wall Canyon fire in the Toiyabe Mountain Range was only 35 percent contained on Tuesday.
The cause of the fire that broke out Saturday had not been determined. Firefighters hoped to stop its spread by Thursday.
About 330 firefighters were fighting the fire that threatened mule deer, bighorn sheep and summer sage grouse habitat. Part of the fire was burning in the Arc Dome wilderness area.
No homes were threatened and no serious injuries have been reported.
