CARSON CITY -- Unemployment in Nevada inched up to 3.5 percent in June, due in part to the end of the school year and the closing of the census field work.
The state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Thursday the rate was one-tenth of 1 percentage point higher than in May but it was still a 1.2 percentage point drop compared to the same month in 1999.
The department said the jobless rate in the Las Vegas metropolitan statistical area rose to 4.3 percent, up nine-tenths of a percentage point from May.
