Letter: In U.S., voting is forgotten right
Friday, July 21, 2000 | 10:54 a.m.
People give a variety of reasons for not voting, from "it doesn't matter" to "they aren't interested."
They should read the Declaration of Independence and see what our founders thought about the power of an average citizen and their right and duty in political activism.
Any eligible voter who doesn't exercise his right to vote is giving the politicians a clear field to work against our interest and for the interests of big money. Most politicians are more interested in the next election than serving America and Americans.
If you know anyone who doesn't vote and keep politically informed, tell them that it doesn't make sense to surrender to the special interests and politicians.
