City Centre group will stay on the job

The recent restructuring of city redevelopment efforts had left the future of the City Centre Development Corp. board of directors in doubt.
But Mayor Oscar Goodman said Wednesday that the private sector volunteers who make up the board have agreed to continue serving in that capacity despite having only an advisory role in redevelopment.
Goodman reappointed Peter Thomas and Steve Swisher to seats on the board. A third appointment, designated to be filled by an attorney, was delayed for two weeks until Goodman can conduct interviews.
On Tuesday Goodman and City Manager Virginia Valentine met with Thomas, City Centre board chairman Nick Niarchos and the corporation's president, Mike Forche, to discuss the recent restructuring that placed the authority over redevelopment projects squarely with the city's Office of Business Development.
