UNR cheerleading coach resigns after fining questions

Heather Soper-Wilson said on Tuesday her resignation is immediate and is in the best interest of the university and her family.
Soper-Wilson has been under fire since May, when former cheer team captain Nicole Archie filed a complaint with campus police.
Archie said that during an April meeting, Soper-Wilson tried to make her and her stunt partner pay $1,000 as punishment for being in a Florida competition in April without permission.
Archie also said coaches had made a practice of fining team members, prompting UNR to launch an internal review into the allegations. The attorney general's office also is investigating.
