SUN WIRE REPORTS

Entrepreneur-producer Emilio Estefan Jr. leads the nominees for the inaugural Latin Grammy Awards with six mentions.

Pop sensation Marc Anthony and Latin rocker Shakira follow with five nominations each, while Juan Luis Guerra, Mana, Fito Paez and Carlos Vives each earned four mentions.

The Latin Grammy Awards, planned to be an annual event, will be Sept. 13 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Awards will be handed out in 40 categories.

Wincer rides with 'Dundee' 3

Simon Wincer will direct the third installment of the " 'Crocodile' Dundee" franchise, which begins shooting in Queensland's Warner Roadshow Movie World Studios in Australia on Aug. 7.

Wincer, who helmed the family hit "Free Willy" and the "Lonesome Dove" miniseries, will work with stars Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski, who are reprising their respective roles as a grizzled outback crocodile wrangler and an American journalist.

Paramount Pictures will release the film in the United States and Canada in April.

The plot will center on Mick Dundee's move to Los Angeles and the culture clashes that arise from his involvement in the making of a film.

The first "'Crocodile' Dundee" was made in 1986 and became one of the most successful non-U.S. films ever.

Smigel to Comedy Central

Robert Smigel, the writer/producer behind "Saturday Night Live's" animated shorts and Conan O'Brien's Triumph the Insult Comic Dog skits on NBC's "Late Night," is moving to Comedy Central.

Smigel will create 10 episodes of a half-hour sketch series that combines animation, live animals and puppets, to premiere in December after "South Park."
