Crowley announced in May that he is stepping down Dec. 31 after 23 years as UNR president. He will return to teaching.
Possible interim presidents include Paul Page, who is assistant vice president for university advancement; Ken Hunter, vice president for research; David Westfall, vice president for academic affairs; and Mike Reed, dean of the College of Business Administration.
Chancellor Jane Nichols and Regents Chairwoman Thalia Dondero will meet with university employees and make a recommendation for an interim president by fall.
Meanwhile, the regents have formed a search committee to find a permanent replacement for Crowley. They hope to have someone named by July 1, 2001.
