Las Vegas area fishing report

LAKE MEAD: Even though recent winds have caused some problems for boaters, those anglers who have taken to the water have generally been enjoying fair success for small striped bass.
Some top water action for stripers has taken place during the past week and boaters are casting small lures, such as Sassy Shad, to catch the fish. Top water action occurs when stripers feed on threadfin shad on the lake's surface.
Most of the stripers that are now being caught range from one to three pounds. Some of the more productive areas for stripers have been the area in front of Hemenway Harbor, Sand Island, Boxcar Cove, Bonelli Bay, Middle Point and Fish Island.
The action for channel catfish has been good in the Virgin Bowl.
