Jackpot selling slot route in second such deal Monday

Tuesday, July 11, 2000 | 6:59 a.m.

Jackpot Enterprises Inc. of Las Vegas said Monday it's selling its slot route business to the Herbst family's E-T-T Inc. for $45 million in cash.

This follows Monday's earlier announcement that Alliance Gaming is selling its slot route operation, United Coin Machine, to an investment group for $118 million.

Jackpot, which is changing its name to J Net Enterprises Inc., is moving out of the gaming business in order to focus on managing investments in fledgling Internet businesses.

The Herbst family is one of Nevada's largest gasoline retailers, operating as Terrible Herbst Inc.

It has interests in two operating casinos in Pahrump and one proposed casino in Pahrump and is preparing to re-open the Continental hotel-casino in Las Vegas.
