Monday, July 10, 2000 | 9:57 a.m.
The Seneca fire on Peavine Peak broke out Sunday afternoon. Fanned by gusty winds, it quickly spread in three different directions and burned an estimated 900 acres.
An official cause has not been determined, but investigators suspect it may have been sparked by a pickup truck.
No homes were damaged and none are threatened.
Two firefighters were treated Sunday for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.
Three others were examined after they were temporarily trapped by flames in their fire engine but they were not injured, according to fire information officer Mark Struble.
Six engines, two bulldozers and five hand crews remained on the scene for mop-up.
