Police chief search on hold until fall

Boulder City officials aren't expecting to launch a search to fill the unexpected resignation of former Police Chief David Mullin for several months.

Mullin's resignation was received on Wednesday and was effective immediately.

Mullin could not be reached for comment, but City Manager John Sullard said the resignation came because of a "difference in management philosophies" between himself and Mullin.

Lt. William Turk is serving as acting police chief. A search to permanently fill the position is not expected to begin until fall.

Arrest made in June bank heist

The FBI, in cooperation with Henderson and Metro Police, have arrested an Arizona man in connection with a June 15 Las Vegas bank robbery.

Karlton Ray Williams, 40, of Glendale, Ariz., was arrested in Laughlin and charged with one count of bank robbery for a heist at the Bank of America, 4801 W. Charleston Blvd.

Authorities are investigating Williams' possible involvement in other Las Vegas bank robberies. Williams is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, an FBI spokesman said.

Las Vegan arrested in ticket scam

A Las Vegas man has been arrested and charged with theft by false pretenses in connection with a Super Bowl ticket scam.

Ricky James Mooneyhan, 22, was arrested at his Las Vegas home Friday by investigators with the Nevada Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Mooneyhan is accused of placing ads in newspapers across the country offering to sell tickets to the 1998 and 2000 Super Bowls, investigators said.

According to the attorney general's complaint, respondents to the ad sent cash payments of up to $3,000 to Mooneyhan but never received the tickets.
