The illustration at left was part of a Penneys advertisement that appeared in the Sun on July 6, 1950. Following are descriptions of advertised items:
Play sandals: White in several styles, all leather. These are one thing the ladies don't want to be without. Come in and see these wonderful shoes. $2.98 to $4.98.

Men's flat knit T-shirts: Better hurry in and stock up on these T-shirts! They're cut full and roomy, made from fine, long-wearing combed cotton. Try them as polo shirts! 34-48. 69 cents.
Nylon hose: 51 gauge, 15 denier first quality hose in enough shades to satisfy the taste of any lady who loves beautiful hose. Sizes 8 1/2-10 1/2 -- 98 cents. 15 denier -- $1.35.
Ladies Handbags: The new selection is something to talk about. Don't miss the opportunity to see these wonderful purses!
